Turning Data into Remarkable Stories & Experiences

The Software and Information Industry Association (SIIA) INFO Local: Austin chapter is excited to join Boston, London, San Francisco, and others in offering informative networking events to their thriving technology, media, publishing, and information service communities. Information Evolution’s own Matt Manning is one of the founding members of the local SIIA chapter, and IEI is delighted to partner with SIIA, UT’s iSchool, and Amazon Web Services to bring you Austin’s inaugural INFO Local event.

Ian Greenleigh, author of The Social Media Side Door and social media strategist, will help you define your role in one of the most critical trends of the digital era with his presentation “Turning Data into Remarkable Stories & Experiences” at SIIA’s Austin Chapter’s first-ever INFO local event this November 20th. We’ll learn:

  • How do we define data literacy, and why is it so important?
  • Why is growing data literacy among consumers a threat to some businesses, and a massive opportunity for others?
  • Why are data-literate consumers more valuable to businesses that know how to work with them?
  • What entices these consumers, and what turns them off?
  • How can businesses increase internal data literacy to adapt to an increasingly data-literate world?
  • How should businesses develop and “go to market” with their data-for-value proposition?
  • How can businesses design consumer participation into their handling and use of consumer data?

Data literacy is on the rise among consumers, and these consumers seek out the best return on their data. They use data to make better decisions, and they share more of it with businesses that win their trust. As a result, they get better products, services and experiences – and more control. Businesses in turn get data that’s more predictive, accurate, holistic and actionable than what could be captured without consumer participation.

The event is at noon on Wednesday, November 20th, 2013 at the UT Austin School of Information, 1616 Guadalupe. There is a $15 charge that includes lunch and a copy of Ian’s new book, which has a cover price of $22. We look forward to seeing you at the event. Register Here!
